EXIcodec

EXIcodec provides EXI encoding and decoding for ISO 15118 communication and implements the EXI layer according to the standard's schema definitions. It is a dedicated software component, not a full ISO 15118 protocol stack. Application logic, transport (PLC, Power Line Communication), security (TLS, Transport Layer Security), and certificate management must be provided by the integrating system. EXIcodec integrates into the overall communication stack exclusively at the EXI layer.

EXIcodec supports ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20, including the latest applicable amendments. The library is designed to accommodate future updates, which are continuously incorporated and made available as part of the commercial offering. 

OpenV2G is the open-source EXIcodec for ISO 15118-2, developed at Siemens Foundational Technology since 2007. EXIcodec is the commercially licensed next generation, covering ISO 15118-20. Both share the same engineering roots.

Yes, EXI is a generic compression format for XML and applies wherever XML-based communication is used. We can implement schema support for any XML-based standard. Reach out with your specific requirements.

Yes. EXIcodec is designed to run on embedded targets and does not require a Linux system by default. Operation on ESP32-class microcontrollers is generally possible. The solution was developed with a focus on constrained embedded environments, where EXI is used deliberately to reduce memory usage. Please note that EXIcodec does not include a TCP/IP stack or certificate management. These components are required by the ISO 15118 standard and must be provided by the integrating system. Support in this area can be discussed if needed. 

GB/T 27930 uses CAN-based communication. ISO 15118 uses XML-encoded messages over PLC (Power Line Communication). Migrating to ISO 15118 requires an additional PLC modem and an ISO 15118 protocol stack.
